Inclusive Healthy Communities Center

Purpose

Nutley Family Service Bureau (NFSB) Inclusive Healthy Communities Center (IHC) is a community change initiative funded by the Division of Disability Services,, aimed at improving, enhancing and effectively increasing community services for people living with disabilities in Nutley Township and surrounding New Jersey communities.

The NFSB Inclusive Healthy Communities Center with a focus on serving consumers dually diagnosed with mental health disorders and disabilities provides non-clinical one-on-one peer coaching, support group facilitation, and assistance with housing, employment, and treatment navigation. The center will empower individuals to manage symptoms, develop healthy coping skills, and access community resources to foster independence and wellness. .

Who We Serve

Adult consumers (18 and older) dually diagnosed with mental health disorders and disabilities. In the near future, the center will expand to serve young people with mental illness and disabilities in Nutley Township and surrounding areas.

A person with a disability is defined as the ADA defines a person with a disability as a person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activity. This includes people who have a record of such an impairment, even if they do not currently have a disability.

The IHC Center Features

The NFSB IHC Center features the Empowered Connections Peer Support Program biweekly one-on-one peer coaching, and weekly facilitated group peer support. Additional aspects of the IHC Center include IHC trainings and events, a resource library, blogs and newsletters, an annual IHC conference, a Q&A portal, and an IHC advisory committee.
