Katherine CarmichaelKatherine Carmichael, M.S.Ed, MSW, LSW, Executive Director
Katherine has spent 20 years within the nonprofit sector in progressively responsible leadership roles within organizations supporting youth, families and communities. After a successful three years in the child welfare sector as Executive Director of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Mercer and Burlington Counties, Katherine recently joined Nutley Family Service Bureau. Prior to her work with CASA, she was senior director of operations at the YWCA Bergen County overseeing all aspects of operations for the Aquatics, Health, Wellness, Childcare and Youth programs. Katherine also served as senior director of Program Services and Outreach for the Princeton-Blairstown Center, at the time, one of the oldest university student service organizations in the country and as director for Good Shepherd Services in New York City where she oversaw extensive programmatic activities with the NYC Department of Education. She is a New Jersey Licensed Social Worker and Certified School Social Worker. She earned a Master’s degree from Columbia University School of Social Work and a Master’s degree from Bank Street College Graduate School of Education with dual certification in general and special education. Additionally, Katherine is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and completed an Advanced Certificate in Executive Leadership in the Not-For-Profit Sector from the New York University Silver School of Social Work. As a lifelong volunteer, beginning as a girl scout, serving in the AmeriCorps VISTA program and most recently as a member of Princeton’s municipal committee, she possesses a strong commitment to community and social justice initiatives.
