Christian Šebek and his sons, Zachary and Eric, have performed holiday music hundreds of times over the course of their professional careers – individually. But they’ve never performed in a holiday concert together as the Šebek Tenors.
That’s about to change.
Nutley Family Service Bureau (NFSB) invites you to “Winter Harmonies: A Holiday Concert for Hope”, featuring the Sebek Tenors, on Saturday, December 13 at 7 pm at Vincent United Methodist Church in Nutley.
Tickets are just $25. Proceeds from ticket sales, sponsorships, program book ads, and donations will support NFSB’s annual end-of-year fundraising appeal, which is critical to funding NFSB programs and services, including mental health counseling, the Food Pantry, case management, and other social services.
“We’re excited to do something we’ve never done before for such a great organization,” Zachary said. “The rehearsals for the past three months have probably been the most fun we’ve had because it’s something so fresh for us in terms of musical arrangements.”
In addition to all three Šebek Tenors performing holiday music together for the first time, the five-piece band joining the Šebeks, led by musical director and pianist David Fraley, will be playing together for the first time. With a saxophonist, bassist, drummer, guitarist, and pianist, the concert will feature a variety of arrangements and styles, from jazz and opera to pop and rock.
The Šebek Tenors will also be joined by special guests who have performed on Broadway, including Michele McConnell, Duane McDevitt, and Janet Saia-Feld, who will bring their exceptional talents to this holiday concert in support of NFSB.
While “Winter Harmonies: A Holiday Concert for Hope” is indeed a fundraising event for NFSB, there has been a strong desire across the organization to bring the community together in the spirt of the holidays.
“Music brings people together and has the power to heal,” Zachary said. “That’s why you see 70,000 people fill a stadium for a concert and sing and cheer in unison. We hope this will create a feeling of hope in our community, especially with people who see the benefit of what we do at NFSB.”
Zachary joined the NFSB Board of Trustees this year, which has enabled him to see the impact of NFSB services firsthand.
“People have come up to me and said they’ve gone to NFSB for help,” Zachary said. “Others talk about how they can’t wait to volunteer or get involved somehow. As a board member, I hear their stories and see things from a different perspective – this community of people who are just so excited to help their neighbors. It brings me a lot of joy.”
A graduate of the Mannes School of Music, Zachary Šebek has enjoyed a music career highlighted by performances of opera at Carnegie Hall and festivals across Italy and Canada. Zachary now serves as a Realtor-Associate® at Compass New Jersey and plans charitable concerts and events throughout the year.
Eric Šebek earned a degree in Music Theatre from Montclair State University and played the role of Patrick in The Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and other iconic venues, and continues to travel the world as a full-time musical performer.
Zachary and Eric both graduated from Nutley High School, where they played lead roles in the school’s annual musicals.
Their father, Christian Šebek, is known worldwide for playing Piangi in “The Phantom of the Opera” on Broadway for five years. He has portrayed Rodolfo, the lead tenor, in the Puccini opera “La Boheme” in Central Park, sang for Pope Benedict, and performed the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden. Christian now spends most of his time as a voice teacher in New York City and New Jersey.
The Šebek Tenors previously headlined The Garden Party, one of NFSB’s signature events, in 2024 and are planning a series of charity concerts for the spring.
